Quartz Gemstone Rough

Quartz is a 7 on the Moh's Hardness Scale. It is a great material to practice on because it won't break too easily and it's reasonably priced. It lends itself to more cutting possibilities than other gemstones because of its durability, structural strength, and availability in large pieces of rough. Quartz lends itself to larger stones and is one of the few materials you can cut very large eye clean stones without a great expense. All quartz will polish with cerium oxide.
